After we moved in it took some time to get the necessities, like water and heat. Electricity wasn’t a problem since it was transfer from the old house.
My husband has been complaining because we don’t have any water. We are really green when it comes to knowing what or how things work on the acreage.
My husband asked me to call one of my friends to come and take a look. The two of them were checking the well and the basement.
I was outside trying to stay out of the way. When I came back in they said a line had burst. I called the local plumber and they said they would send someone out.
The plumber came today to look at the broken line. He said he would send someone else out that he didn’t have the proper tools. No one came in the afternoon, we will have to wait until Monday.
My husband was pretty upset that we didn’t have any water. There really is nothing we can do. I go to the old house to have a shower or do laundry. We have the old house until the 22nd of June.
The plumbers came back on June 22nd, the outside tap had frozen and caused the line to break. They put a new tap outside which will stop it from happening again. They came back on June 24th, I found a leak with the upstairs bathroom.
On June 23rd I ordered the propane, my husband wanted me to wait until we received the balance from the old house. I phone Co-Op in Melfort and they said it would be delivered the following week. I phoned on June 30th and they said they couldn’t find our order.
I was told they would be coming the following week, on Tuesday. I phoned again on Tuesday and I got someone else, he said they weren’t delivering this week. They only come to Hudson Bay when Weyerhauser needs Propane. He said he would check they computer and let me know.
When he phoned back he said that Weyerhauser was due to have propane. They would be there on Thursday July 7th.
We have been cooking on the BBQ since we moved in. We have a gas stove, it’s not too bad cooking on the BBQ. We have been eating out more than usual. For myself it hasn’t been hard not have gas but my husband has been complaining. There is nothing I can do about it, we just have to wait for the truck to come.
The Co-Op truck came on July 7th, I was so happy to see it! The driver came out of the truck, I said “I’m so happy to see you!”
He smiled “Are you Nancy?”
I said, “Yes.”
He said “I will go fill your tank.”
We didn’t have heat right away, we had to get the plumber out. They also install and repair furnaces. He was able to light the pilot light and show my husband what needed to be done. The furnace was nothing like our old furnace.
My husband was very happy to have heat. The humidity in the house is quite high. It should help to dry out the house.
